As is the case across much of Europe right now, Sony is beginning to roll out PS5 price promotions in the United States as well. The ever on-the-ball Wario64 spotted a Target flyer, promoting a $449.99 price point for the new-gen system starting this Sunday. That’s a $50 saving on the console’s usual $499.99 MSRP.

It’s not the only PS5 product on sale either: DualSense controllers will be available for $49.99, while first-party games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, The Last of Us: Part I, and Gran Turismo 7 will also be discounted. All in all, considering this is a random weekend in early August, the savings aren’t to be sniffed at.

Sony enjoyed its best month in 15 years in June 2023, according to latest Circana’s sales report for the US video game industry. Similar price promotions in the UK have propelled PS5 up 75 per cent, and have also had an impressive impact on software sales. It’s probably safe to assume the Japanese giant is going for the jugular, then – all while it clears stock ahead of a strongly rumoured hardware revision later this year.
