EA Sports UFC 5 Will Break Noses, Drop Jaws on PS5 1

EA Sports UFC 5 – not to be confused with renamed soccer series EA Sports FC – will be officially announced in September 2023, after it was teased on Twitter earlier today. No platforms were confirmed, but this series – along with Fight Night – has routinely pushed presentation boundaries, so PS5 is practically guaranteed. We’re not expecting a PS4 version at this point, but it’s not impossible.

There were rumours in 2021 that the publisher had paused development of a new Fight Night game in order to continue development of its UFC franchise, and at that point the MMA title was pegged for a late 2022 release. Obviously it’s taken a lot longer than anticipated to materialise, as we’re now deep into 2023 and it’s only just getting around to being announced.

Nevertheless, we’re expecting this to be a breathtaking effort, as all of the EA Sports UFC outings have been stunning visually. We really liked EA Sports UFC 4, but we reckon the developer still has its work cut out nailing the ground game, which is notoriously difficult to convert into compelling gameplay. The stand-and-bang aspect of the previous title was exceptional, though, and we’d expect further refinements to be revealed when this one is finally officially unveiled in September.
