There are 16 Chapters in the game, with the beginning of each one clearly defined on screen with text. Once you start a new Chapter, you can't return to a previous one. However, the Village, Castle, and Island locations are open to a degree, so you may be able to return to previous areas depending on your progress. We've produced a Resident Evil 4 Remake Walkthrough, and below you'll find links to each Chapter Walkthrough. Once you have finished the game, a New Game+ playthrough may await.

Once you have completed all 16 chapters, the game will be complete. After rolling credits, you'll be awarded a Game Completion Rank, which takes into account your final playtime and difficulty level. You can unlock new Weapons and Items depending on your Game Completion Rank should you wish to play through the game again. If you do, the best option is a New Game+ playthrough. Using this option, all your Weapons, Weapon Upgrades, Charms, Pesetas, and some Key Items will carry over, meaning you won't have to find them again.
