Sony is plotting a press conference in China this week, which it promises will reveal the third phase of its ongoing China Hero Project. The Japanese giant has been nurturing developers all across the country, pledging funding, marketing, and publishing support for a variety of games, including FIST: Forged in Shadow Torch and more.
This week it confirmed that, despite skipping most major conventions this year, it’ll have a booth at ChinaJoy in Shanghai, which is scheduled to take place this weekend, between 28th July and 31st July. And prior to that, it’ll host a press conference where it’ll reveal new Chinese developed PS5 and PS4 games coming to its consoles.
Phase Three of the China Hero Project is said to include around ten titles, but only three have been officially unveiled thus far: EXILEDGE, AWAKEN: Astral Blade, and Will-less. That means we should learn about several more titles during the press conference, which can be streamed live on Bilibili if you’d like to watch.
The show will get underway on 27th July at 10AM local time in Shanghai, but we’ve provided a handy time zone guide below for your reference. Please note that in the US, the show will actually occur on the evening of the 26th July:
- North America: 7pm PDT / 8pm MDT / 9pm CDT / 10pm EDT
- UK/Ire: 3am BST
- Europe: 4am CEST / 5am EEST
- Asia/Oceania: 11am JST / 10am AWST / 12pm AEST
Is there anything in particular you’d like to see emerge from this event, or are you just maintaining an open mind and hoping for some awesome announcements? Let us know in the comments section below.

"What you talkin' about, Will-less?"
Sorry.
Can’t wait to hear how this is a bad thing because it’s CHY-NA
Praying for some Lost Soul Aside release news.
@RBMango It's going to be on the ChinaJoy show floor so hopefully!
I'm thinking all the new games they'll announce are GAAS. 🤷♂️
@KaijuKaiser China is a horrible country but the games is what I'm looking at.
@rjejr if the games are good I won't mind 😂
Have any of these china titles released yet?
It's time to make some anime-lover money with cute chinese games now that sega wants to alienate their biggest Persona playerbase LOL
@Flaming_Kaiser Well that’s your opinion. I loved my time there. Taught at a college there for 9 years in Guangdong province. Fantastic food, friendly people, amazing public transit, and overall felt safer there than in the USA
@Rmg0731 i don't remember names but the rabbit game, the cyberpunk game, the mecha 2d game and of course Genshin Impact, I don't think Genshin was part of their program for China but still part of their development budget was from Sony.
@GymratAmarillo oh yeah, the rabit game was called FIST. The main three i remember is lost souls, convollario or something and the monkey game
@KaijuKaiser I follow a Portuguese streamer that lives there and he looks pretty happy. I'm not saying China is this perfect place to live, it's not, but what country in the world is?
@rjejr. If you want gaas stop drinking soda you cheap man you drink wilkins ☕ coffee.haha.word up son
Hope there's a wee shadow drop out of this 😀
@KAIRU
Nice Diff’rent Strokes reference!
@Rmg0731 a few have released. F.I.ST and Anno: Mutationem are the ones that actually made a splash. Lesser known stuff like Immortal Legacy, In Nightmare and Hardcore Mecha also came out, but were quickly forgotten (although i have a softspot for Legacy, it was a fun VR Uncharted/RE mashup).
Lost Soul Aside gameplay,demo or a release date.
@lacerz Thank ya!
@KaijuKaiser Weird, that's not what Serpentza is showing on his channel. Maybe you lived in a buble, or things have taken a wrong turn there since you left.
@Sil_Am Actually they loved it when they lived there too but once they got back home with their families they had to find a way to make money since ESL teaching doesn’t bring many opportunities. I could make the USA look like hell on earth if all I did was report onthe absolute worst parts of society. Every country has its own list of pros and cons. I’m just saying China is better than people think. The biggest downside is not having any path to long term residency. Forget ever having a stable family life there
@ThorsHammer
F.I.S.T. was fun, I had some issues though. I disliked tying the dodge to the left thumbstick, and I'm not a fan of using combos like a fighting game in my Metroidvania’s. Similar to Guacamelee, which I never finished.
I did not know Anno: Mutationem was a Chinese developed game. I really enjoyed it and the visuals were great! I loved the art style for that game.
Fist was a fun game looking forward to more of these games releasing
@KaijuKaiser Friendly not so friendly if your country is theirs if they say so. Not so friendly if they stuff you in a camp to brainwash kids, castrate minorities, take land that is not theirs, weapons for Russia should I go on.
@Flaming_Kaiser Bro, America was founded on taking land. I'm not going to judge them for what they've done in the past when we've already done arguably worse by nearly wiping out all Native Americans.
As for the other stuff you mentioned I'm not sure what you're talking about. Never heard of the castration on minorities. Most I've heard is that they put one minority type (Uyghurs) into reeducation camps and it's more of a cultural genocide. Still terrible if true.
@playstation1995 chai teas my man, it's all about the iced chai tea lattes this time of year. Don't go outside w/o them. 🌞
@GymratAmarillo Well somebody has to play them. 😉
@KaijuKaiser Who said I'm a big fan of the US?
