Assassin's Creed Codename Jade Phones 1

Mobile is becoming an increasingly important part of all major publishers’ plans – including even PlayStation – and we’re long beyond the days of throwaway endless runners inspired by popular intellectual property. Assassin’s Creed: Codename Jade –in development at Tencent’s Level Infinite – is shaping up to be a full-scale entry in the series, set in BC China during the Qin dynasty. And it’s getting a closed beta on 3rd August.

The game will see you create your own character, where you’ll assume the role of the adopted child of Master Wei Yu. “From the Great Wall outside the empire's borders to the imperial capital of Xianyang, journey through a world filled with ancient history and hidden dangers,” the blurb reads. “Defend against the Xiongnu and work to dismantle conspiracies, taking on greater responsibilities, and facing new challenges.”

Registrations for the closed beta across iOS and Android are open now, but publisher Ubisoft warns that not everyone who signs up will gain access. Successful applicants will receive their invites between 27th July and 31st July, with pre-downloads beginning on 1st August. The closed beta will then run from 3rd August through 11th August, with no final release date announced right now. We’re going to check this out because early footage of it has looked incredibly impressive – it’ll be interesting to see if it can catch on.
