planning on splurging going ahead and buying Street Fighter 6 for my Playstation 4 tomorrow from Walmart.

Been a long long time since ive played a Street Fighter game since I used to have Street Fighter Alpha 3 for my original Playstation years ago

@RogerRoger That's Sonic Adventure 2 done. Janky camera, cheap enemies and hilarious dialogue. Yep, that's definitely the right game! You can cut the sexual tension between Knuckles and Rouge with a blunt axe! Game was easier than I remember though. 🤔

Up next is Sonic Heroes on the PS2. I remember not being very good at the special stages in this one, so I don't expect to be fighting slightly more improved Metal Sonic.

@RogerRoger Hate to tag you twice about the same topic, but I just had to talk a bit more about Star Trek: Resurgence as I've been continuing it over this last week. It's been getting so good, I'm very impressed. As you said in your review, technically it's a mess throughout but I've not actually encountered anything game-breaking or something that would distract from my enjoyment. Considering how flimsily this game seems to be held together, I take this as a win!

The story I've gotten so invested in ever since my last reply. This game feels so reactionary to a lot of the choices you make and that satisfies me deeply as someone who loves these types of game, even though I realise much of it is probably still an illusion. It's really the Telltale formula done right without having to go as far as something like Detroit: Become Human. It feels like it adds such a personal touch to your playthrough and the in-depth statistics as just the cherry on top. Won't bother you with a lot more of those as I'm sure that gets exhausting, but let's just say my low percentage streak has often continued and it feels fun I'm seeing things that many people will experience otherwise.

As for some spoilery story beats I want to discuss, I've now gotten to the point where they've discovered and returned from the second vault and Jara has appointed a new First Officer after the briefing with Spock (which in my and most people's case is Westbrook). It's kind of funny the confrontation you get afterwards with Urmott where he shows his disappointment and how he feels cheated as he's always been supportive of Jara, as I don't remember Urmott doing much of anything throughout my game. Sure, he's always been doing his job on the bridge but he's easily the Bridge Crew member I have the least of a connection with. I don't think that necessarily is even limited to my experience as I can't think where people otherwise might have interacted with him more.

Captain Solano was probably one of my most hated characters in gaming recently, but I suppose the twist with him having been bioformed should change my opinion on him a little bit. I never liked him to begin with though, so it doesn't make so much of a difference to me. It felt very satisfying to get to plan a mutiny and pull it off against this person I've disliked and tried to usurp the position of from the very start. I did hear there's apparently a comic series that ties in with the game as a prequel focused on Solano which shows his backstory, and it supposedly makes him a bit more sympathetic when you know what happened before. Sadly for him didn't come across in the game by itself.

Bedrosian slightly annoyed me too now as she threw a temper tantrum because I didn't agree with her decision to destroy all Tkon life forms. Sure, partially her frustration with me is understandable as I also did not heed her advice back in the first hour of the game and I did get her permanently disfigured with her eyes because I didn't switch out with the power surge in the shuttle... BUT we also had a literal Tkon guardian on board who clearly would not react well to me destroying the remnants of his civilization. I get being afraid of the Scions doubling down on finding us and putting the crew at risk by transporting them onto our ship, but I feel like the even more immediate threat is the guardian sworn to do anything to protect his people who is already on our ship. And as established, he would clearly mop the floor with anyone on the Resolute.

I was surprised by the amount of people who didn't choose to confide in Westbrook with the revelation that Solano was bioformed. To me, he felt like the obvious decision of the three and it didn't take long for me to come to that conclusion. Bedrosian is of course loyal to Jara but is a total kiss-ass and also fairly new to the crew, so having her by my side would not give me the greatest legitimacy in trying to overthrow my captain. She'd just be seen as my pet or an easy follower. Urmott I barely had much of a relationship with, so while I believe he would've followed me, I was also not quite sure enough of his intentions and personality. Westbrook I've had run-ins with in the past, but he's always been mature about owning up to his mistakes afterwards and our professional relationship never had any issues. He has the most seniority on the ship and (most importantly) was a friend of Solano, so having him on my side felt like the obvious decision as he would add the most legitimacy to my claim and has the greatest stature of the three.

Judging from the statistics, I have to assume that most people don't really get along well with Major Arminta throughout the game. The positive moodlets I get with him are pretty much always in the very low percentages, but he's honestly one of my favourite characters. He's also one of very few where I haven't actually had a negative interaction with him at any point. It's just an entirely green history. I think his writing is one of the most fleshed out of the whole ensemble and I love that I really felt like I had to earn his trust, which I clearly eventually did. His customs, his relationship with Itasca and the general way in which he starts feeling integrated in your trio was such a beautiful arc for him. I'm assuming I'll see less of him now that we've been rescued very much like Tylas, but I will miss hanging around with him. I think he was a fascinating guy and it's sad that more players didn't get to experience him in a more positive manner.

Some more random side-notes: Riker's appearance I realised was a big deal because I remembered that name from having heard Star Trek stuff in the past, but it was somewhat hilarious how bad the original actor's voice acting was here. I looked him up afterwards and saw he's done bits of voice acting for Riker here and there before, but I hope in these other places it was of better quality. He stuck out like a sore thumb in a cast that mostly consists from at least solid to pretty great voice actors. I'm sure he's better in live action. Aside from that, I think Duvall is also the only other major character I've managed to keep entirely happy throughout my run. I have not one single bad moodlet with her and that makes me happy. We two are clearly on the exact same page!

That's about everything I can think of for now that I've wanted to discuss while playing. Sorry for bombarding you with all this text (previous reply included!), but it's hard to find much chatter about this game elsewhere as it seems to not have barely made a dent even within the Star Trek-fandom. Would love to hear your thoughts about anything I brought up, your personal experiences with the story so far or anything else!

@Tjuz No apology necessary, I'm grateful for the tag and flattered that you'd wanna share your experience with me (especially since you're finding it such a good one)! You're also smart not to fall down a Google rabbit hole when you haven't finished the story yet. That way definitely lies spoilers!

Have loved reading the details of your choices, particularly as somebody who, same as you, often picks the least-popular option and gets the minority outcome. I'll admit, I can't remember every minute-to-minute detail of my time with the game, as it happened the other side of a full Horizon Forbidden West playthrough and, now that I'm waist-deep in my Mass Effect replay, my brain's short-term Lore Archive is busy sticking strips of masking tape over the words 'Tkon Empire' and scrawling 'Prothean' instead. You'll have to forgive me if I skip over anything, therefore, or if I can't recall what I chose.

Having played on PlayStation, I also didn't get access to a detailed stat breakdown, or at least couldn't readily find it separate from the game's trophy list (which is pretty much a 50/50 split of all the major turning points, necessitating two very different playthroughs for the platinum). You're mentioning choices which don't have associated trophies, and that (wrongly) made them feel 'lesser' on console.

In fact, based on what you've asked and in the order you've asked it, I'll quickly run through a list of everything I can remember, before I then elaborate on a few specific points.

1) I followed Bedrosian's plan and raised the shields.
2) I was dead against Miranda the whole time; accused her of lying, no romance, tried to shoot her.
3) I made Edsilar go first, meaning my Carter was scarred.
4) I appointed Urmott as First Officer.
5) I went against Solano at every opportunity. He is not Starfleet Captain material.
6) I kept Bedrosian at arm's length, which ultimately made her quit her post.
7) I got along really well with Major Arminta and Dr. Duvall, too!

Okay, so then to explain myself on a few of those...

Personally speaking, I get very frustrated with forced romance in narrative games, and so when Miranda showed up and was such an obvious, "Hey look, gamers, you can kiss a girl! Tee-hee!" my bias might've played a part in my instant distrust of her. A little later on, when I had to start making serious decisions about whether to trust her or not, I did circle back and double-check that I hadn't made a mistake, and was relieved to realise that no, from the get-go, I'd have been sceptical regardless. As you'd expect, the trophy stats are heavily skewed in favour of Carter dating her.

Again, I'll admit to personal bias when favouring Urmott, because I recognised his voice actor but, also again, I made sure that I wasn't blinded by my adoration of the casting choice (did the same with Dr. Duvall, too). Westbrook makes the most in-universe sense for First Officer, I get that, but with the stakes so high I guess I wanted somebody a bit safer, a bit more dependable and... well, boring. Urmott was never gonna have a blazing row with me in the middle of a battle, and it's because he's always "just kinda there" that I thought he'd be a suitable candidate to step up and support Jara. With the kind of wider knowledge and context that only a full playthrough can provide, I think I'll definitely be picking Westbrook next time, though (and not just because I need the trophy).

Bedrosian can get in the heckin' bin. She was the example I cited in my review, where I felt the game wrote itself to an extreme in order to better facilitate a moral dilemma. As soon as she started to advocate the destruction of the Tkon seed vault, I was so done with her. Her fangirl status was a cheap ploy to hide a thoroughly nasty and spiteful character, and I saw right through it. Honestly, your reaction to that moment is incredibly pragmatic, and I respect you for staying so rational and considering the broader implications of the decision! You're right, of course; Portal 63 could've become a serious threat any time he wished, but that didn't even register with me. The Resolute wasn't about to commit genocide, not under my command. Bedrosian didn't even make it to my First Officer selection briefing, where she was supposed to be an option. It's gonna be real painful getting her there second time around.

Do you think you'll ever check out the prequel comic? I was tempted, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I think I might wait and see if I can snag it in a sale, perhaps.

Jonathan Frakes (Riker) is a superb actor, and I think that's the problem with his appearance alongside a bunch of professional voice actors, because it's a totally different discipline. I thought he did really well in his scenes, but then I'm also a huge Trekkie, and Riker's one of my favourite characters, so again, I was likely blinded by a healthy dose of bias. His value as fan service far outweighed any shortcomings (and guaranteed that I'd tell him about the shield codes, no matter how I felt about Solano).

I'm so glad you're enjoying the game as much as you are, and really hope it sticks the landing for you! Sorry for being a little late with my reply, too; please continue to share as much as you want (although no obligation, of course) and I'll look forward to reading your thoughts on the finale!

@BeerIsAwesome Thanks for keeping me updated with your Sonic efforts! How'd you get on with Sonic Battle in the end? Did you figure out its mechanics, or did you end up skipping it?

With regards Sonic Free Riders, you ain't missin' much. I got to try it once, and it was every inch a Kinect gimmick, and a barely functional one at that. Looked really pretty, though, so it's a shame they didn't retroactively add controller support and make it more widely available. Guess it'll forever be stuck on dead hardware (same with the Boom games; as terrible as the Wii U one's reputation is, I'd like the option to try it, as I adore the Boom show itself, and I gather that the 3DS ones were alright).

Hurrah for Adventure 2 still holding up! I think it's the kinda game that gets easier when you know what you're doing. I know that sounds like stating the bleedin' obvious, but it's particularly true of Sonic games, where simple solutions hide in plain sight and muscle memory helps with any control jank.

The Special Stages in the PS2 port of Sonic Heroes are rough, to an unplayable degree. That game is responsible for igniting my lifelong fandom of the franchise, and I've played it endlessly over the years, and I have never gotten more than two of its Chaos Emeralds. I've only ever seen its True Ending on YouTube. Used to say the same about Shadow the Hedgehog but recently overcame that hurdle; emboldened, I went back and tried Heroes again, but to no avail.

If you can manage 'em, I'll be beyond impressed with your skills! Best of luck!

@RogerRoger Not a problem. It's quite fun talking to a like minded person about my favourite videogame character. Sonic Battle is kinda an ongoing thing. When I have a gap between games to play I probably will. I'll likely do the same thing when I get round to Sonic Chronicles as well, since RPGs will take longer than your average "gotta go fast" Sonic games.

They did actually run Sonic Free Riders at the ESA marathon just gone, and they did say that the emulated version of the game has had controller support modded in. So along with a bunch of fangames, I may check it out in the far off future.

Sonic Adventure 2 is a great game, and definitely one of the best Sonic games ever made! Although if they want to remaster it at some point in the future, they will probably need to work on the dialogue. Might have worked when games were just starting to go 3D, but we're in a post-The Last Of Us world now, so dubious dialogue will take a few marks off a game these days.

Yeah, I'm about halfway through the second batch of characters, and I've already missed out on multiple emeralds, and that's if I even manage to find and keep the keys! I won't pull my hair out over them. As for Shadow The Hedgehog, I can complete it in a day, or I can run through it several times doing different combinations. I'll figure that one out when I've got it in my PS2 and a controller in my hands.

@BeerIsAwesome I dunno how anyone can deal with emulating Xbox 360 games, I’ve always found it a massive pain! Perhaps Free Riders is a game that they’ve specifically targeted for optimisation.

BeerIsAwesome

@nessisonett I won't pretend to even know how to go about emulating something from a technical viewpoint, so all of this is alien to me. I know the PS3 emulator is not entirely perfect either.

I am a little impressed that there are emulators out there that can do things the original hardware couldn't do, like how I'm currently playing a PS2 game on original hardware on a screen seemingly smeared with Vaseline. But there is an emulator out there that can run the game at far higher resolutions and frame rates, so modding in controller support for a Kinect game may not be out of the picture it seems.

@RogerRoger That's Sonic Heroes done, with it's naff voice acting and lack of invisible walls. I'm pretty sure the only way you can play that game is by falling off the side of a level half a dozen times. Bad ending of course. I don't think I could ever manage to keep hold of a key without getting hit in a month of Sundays! I don't play these games if they don't bring me fun, and trying to force myself to collect all the emeralds in a single playthrough is not fun. It's not the only game I haven't got all the emeralds in. I didn't in Blast, Advance 2 and Advance 3 either. I can watch missed content on YouTube anyway.

Up next is Shadow The Hedgehog. Sonicretro tells me there's 326 different combinations. Not sure if I want to play it that much, but if I get all ten endings, the true ending opens up. So...I guess it's ten playthroughs. As I recall, it wasn't the longest game, so one or two endings could be done in a day. 🤔 Maybe I could play it with this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/255920078854

@RogerRoger Haha, now that you've put Tkon and Prothean in the same sentence it struck me how similar these two narratives are actually. Two long gone highly advanced civilizations destroyed only for a sole representative of their species to be found ages later when new civilizations stumble upon their old technology... At least the Protheans didn't try to come back in a mass genocide plot!

I'm surprised they didn't give you the choices on PlayStation. On PC, you were able to click on Choices on the main menu and link your playthrough to an online account where you could then view your breakdowns on your preferred web browser. It did annoy me that you couldn't see the percentages of past moodlets though, always only the most recent one except for the big choices which stayed throughout.

Whew. You really had no chill with Miranda, huh? I did initially accept the romance with her, but I totally understand your feelings towards that. For me it's not really about wanting to kiss a girl (for obvious reasons), but I always get a sense of FOMO if I'm not accepting some seemingly big storyline a game is trying to give me. As much as I don't appreciate it clearly being force-fed, I didn't want to risk missing out on any good scenes by denying it! As soon as she came back to the ship and obviously wasn't being herself I turned on her quick too, though. I told her to go to hell when we were on the Alydian ship communicating through the combadge and did also shoot her.

Your reasoning for Urmott makes total sense too. I guess that's the beauty of the game in that everyone had something speaking for them (except Bedrosian which... I don't know why you would choose her). She was not present at my First officer meeting either and I didn't miss her presence in the slightest. Why exactly would you go with Westbrook now that you've finished the game? I remembered your other messages with another forum member and went back to read them and saw you didn't have the scenes where Urmott goes to the lower decks and much of the Resolute's crew gets caught in the bioforming ray, including him. Though unlike this other person (who I would reference if I remembered their name, sorry), I didn't decide to kill Urmott when I had the chance and stunned him instead. What happened to him in your playthrough?

I'm not very interested in checking out the prequel comic considering Solano is the focus and my opinion on him as I said is... very low. Maybe I should anyway though and not let my bias get in the way of a possibly great story. It looks like the reviews are actually quite solid. I'm currently working my way through the Saga series on the comics front, so I'll see if I decide to take a detour at some point and give it a shot.

I finished the game a few days ago, so feel free to respond with anything spoilery!

@BeerIsAwesome Agreed; although we may differ on some of the details, it's fun to retrospectively run through Sonic's entire back-catalogue, even without playing the games for myself.

Oh, that'd be brilliant, being able to play Free Riders with a controller! Yet another example of the fan community coming to Sonic's rescue. As much as SEGA and Sonic Team have improved in recent years, there are still so many gaps they could easily and cheaply fill, if they wanted to. Still, I'm not gonna grumble. I just lived through those PS4 wilderness years, so getting a new Sonic game on a yearly basis has been such a blessing of late! Perhaps a Riders remastered trilogy could still happen!

Top drawer on Sonic Heroes. You stuck with it longer than I usually do, as I tend to revel in Team Sonic's storyline, quickly blast through with Team Dark, and then skip the others. You're right, in this day an' age, the reward for collecting all the Chaos Emeralds is better watched on YouTube. It'd be an interesting candidate for a remaster or remake; apparently it's the favourite of Takashi Iizuka, one of the Sonic Team bigwigs, which is why Seaside Hill has re-appeared so often over the years. There was a rumour going around that Sonic Adventure was getting a full remake, but I wouldn't be surprised if Heroes was being worked on instead.

Heh, I remember seeing that Shadow controller in a brick-and-mortar shop once, and to this day I still regret not buying it! Best of luck with the game; I love it now, but it took me a while to get there. Will be real interesting to see if you manage all ten playthroughs! I'm not sure I would!

@Tjuz Well, you say that, but considering the Collectors are genetically-altered Prothean descendants, enslaved by the Reapers...? Well, it's variations on a theme, at least!

I checked and the PlayStation version does have that stat-checking service buried in its menus, but since it still operates exactly as you describe (go to an external website, create an account, etc.) I skipped it, 'cause that's a real clunky thing to do on console. I'd probably do it on PC, though!

No, I agree with you; despite my attitude, I'm forever checking the romance options in choice-based games, to see whether my intransigence made me miss anything better. I can totally see what the writers were going for, and appreciate that being in a romantic relationship with a traitor is a far more complicated (and therefore interesting) storyline than, "Pfft, I've never trusted you anyway! Eat phaser!!" so the idea of exploring that path in a second playthrough doesn't offend me or anything. I think Resurgence dropped at a time when I'd been unfortunately stung by a worse example of that issue, so it was playing on my mind more than it usually would, anyway. Pesky human emotions!

I think I'd go with Westbrook because, having seen a full playthrough with him, I realise that I was probably a little too distrusting of his attitude, and I understand him a lot more now. I think you're right, I think he'd make a good counterbalance for Jara, and that's important in a First Officer. Before, I was worried that the counterbalance he'd provide would be too aggressive, and therefore unnecessarily stressful, but I can see that other characters (namely Bedrosian) exist to fill that role. I'm thinking back and checking my screencaps, and I might've been mistaken before; I did have that boss battle but, because I'd picked Urmott as my First Officer, I think it was with Westbrook, who I subsequently stunned.

Congratulations on clearing the game! I'd just be interested to read what you made of the finale. I felt like it dragged a little, and was a bit "pew pew pew" generic in places, but still enjoyed it overall, and appreciated the big choices it built towards. I suppose my biggest question would be, who made it back alive in your playthrough? Carter or Edsilar? And will you be playing it again, differently?

@RogerRoger PC modders can do wonderful things, though most of it will fly over my head. I did do some rudimentary modding on old Command & Conquer games many years ago (back when my age began with a 1 and not a 3 like it does now), and then read up on creating models for said C&C games. At that point I noped out. But of course Sonic Free Riders never received a PC port. I'm pretty sure that between that and one of the other Sonic Riders games, those are about the only two games in the entire series to never receive a PC port (mobile, PICO and arcade games notwithstanding). I did actually say in the "Sega wants to remaster old Sonic games" that Sonic 4 is the only game in the series not to be physical in any capacity.

Sonic games tend to be easier when you stop being a completionist. Every zone in Sonic Heroes will be 15 minutes to complete, but if you've got, say 20 lives, you're probably not going to spend them all just going hell for leather anyway. So a 15 minute stage will take, 10 minutes or even closer to 5. Team Dark is the longest run, so when you've done that, you're basically speedrunning the rest of the game.

Same. If I had enough money and no qualms about walking into a shop on my lonesome just to go to the kids section, I'd buy every piece of merchandise I could. Although I probably still wouldn't hold the record for Sonic merch - I saw a video about a dude in America who had basically turned his house into a Sonic merch museum.

BeerIsAwesome

Tjuz

@RogerRoger I agree. The romantic relationship between a hero and a traitor would certainly make for a more interesting, dramatic storyline. The problem here is that, much like your criticism, it never got to evolve naturally. Even if you do try to go for that storyline, there's just not enough investment from the player to make that fully work. I would be a sucker for something like this if I had felt any attachment to Miranda, but it was very easy for me to turn on her and disregard that storyline as well simply because there was none. I'm not sure how they could've made it more successful though. It's not like I'm advocating for a "bond with Miranda"-prologue or anything! Maybe they thought they could pull it off here, but for me it was a swing and a miss. I don't think you'll feel differently upon replay even if you force yourself to interact with her more positively!

Ah, makes total sense that it's Westbrook who you stun instead then. The good old character switcheroo in choice-based narratives. Sounds like the final climax is largely the same either way! Personally, the only parts I felt like dragged a little bit were those inside the Tkonian ship. An extended stealth section and, like you mentioned, a fair amount of "pew pew pew" didn't really add much to the experience there. The former I just completely rushed through when I realised it takes a character like ten seconds to spot you even if you stand right in front of their face. The Resolute sections commanding the ship were very fun though! A bit of a mixed bag in that front, but I ultimately left with a positive feeling as the Tkonian ship sections also picked up steam towards the end narratively.

For me, Edsilar came back alive. Carter sacrificed himself. I didn't even realise it was possible to have it the other way around. I decided to use the syringe Duvall gave me when Miranda tried to turn Carter instead of attacking her. Is that one of the deciding factors in what happens in the end? What's needed to have Edsilar sacrifice herself instead? Not that I would've preferred that, as I feel like a heroic death is a much better end narratively for Carter than it would be for Edsilar. I don't think I will be playing again. Nothing against this game in particular as I very much enjoyed it, but because I barely replay games in general. There's only a very rare few, but most of the time I'm fine with just knowing what could've happened instead of seeing it for myself. You planning to replay it any time soon?

Tjuz

RogerRoger

@BeerIsAwesome Yeah, I've only dabbled with modding a couple of times, and have needed step-by-step guides to achieve very limited results. I hit that "nope" point pretty quickly!

I think you're right, it was Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity that was exclusive to the PS2 and Wii. Not sure whether SEGA would wanna admit that the Sonic 4 games exist, given the critical mauling they continue to receive (which has only gotten worse since Mania) but you're right, it'd be nice to have them on a disc at some point. Do you happen to know anything about the cancelled Sonic 4: Episode III or do you reckon that story's lost to time? I thought Episode II was such a huge improvement over its predecessor, and was really looking forward to the trilogy's conclusion. Oh well.

Yeah, purely playing for fun is definitely the way I prefer to enjoy my Sonic games. I've given 'em all a serious shot over the years, but if I'm just looking for a nostalgia hit or power trip, I'll just head for the goal as quickly and as stylishly as possible. Which is great, because it's a totally valid option!

Would that I could, too! I have a Sonic shelf, and then a couple other bits and pieces dotted about, but only one item that I'd describe as a "premium" piece of merchandise. Saw all those new LEGO sets drop recently and spent a full day sitting on my hands. It's heckin' dangerous!

@Tjuz That's a shame, that Miranda isn't better established as a romantic partner beforehand. I did think that she became obviously suspicious a little early in the story, but wasn't sure if that was a result of my Carter keeping her at arm's length. Will see how it goes but yeah, won't expect miracles!

Yeah, by the time I reached that big final pyramid-plinth place aboard the Tkonian ship, I was getting quite restless, but then everything that happens there is great, so like you say, I'd maybe tighten or trim some of the stealth and chase sequences that came beforehand. That was one of the few times where I felt the game lost the vibe of the 90s Star Trek shows it was trying so hard to emulate; they rarely got to descend into such chaos (for budgetary or practical reasons) and focused more on negotiated resolutions, brinksmanship, or clever problem-solving. I guess when you're a game and can "go big" like that, the temptation (or indeed, expectation) is too great to ignore. Oh well.

I'm not sure of the exact sequence of events needed to get Edsilar to bioform. I think there are a couple of deciding factors, the biggest of which being that you need to have Carter kill Miranda (which I did; sorry, not sorry!) because then that leaves the injection available as an option for either Carter or Edsilar to use on themselves, at which point you get a debate and a final choice. If you "waste" the injection on Miranda then yeah, I could see how it's taken out of your hands.

Fair enough! Well, when I do replay it, I'll let you know if I discover anything major. I think they're planning on releasing a physical PS5 version some point soon, which I'm hoping is a proper native port (and not just the PS4 version in a white-labelled box). The good news is that they wouldn't be doing that if the game had tanked, so it's obviously done quite well, sales-wise! Not sure when I'll get around to it, though; normally I'd consider using a Telltale-esque game to break up Mass Effect playthroughs but, given the similarities, I doubt I'll be getting back to this 'til I'm done with Shep now!

The Beatles: Rock Band really is absolutely fantastic. Just in awe of how great a package it is, with clear love for the band all throughout the game. Difficulty wise, it’s not too difficult on guitar but wow, it can get pretty hard on vocals! Having a blast playing through the story mode and going through the timeline even if I struggled a bit with their earlier hits on vocals.

@RogerRoger Yeah, if I remember correctly, the only time you see Miranda inbetween confirming your romance and her acting suspicious already is when she leaves with the ground team to go to the Hotari Queen. It's the only romantic scene you get with her before you see her again with a clear change in personality.

I can imagine the final Tkonian ship sections weren't anything like your usual Trek. As I've mentioned before, I'm not all that familiar with the shows and have never seen a single episode, but I know that's not the general vibe they tend to go for. Personally, this bothered me less as I'm more used to the action-oriented sci-fi anyway, such as Mass Effect. I do appreciate Star Trek's focus on diplomacy however and wish this was a more common aspect within narrative games. There's nothing I love more than watching a bunch of politicians duke it out over issues of intergalactic importance. This is why Shohreh Aghdashloo's character in The Expanse was my favourite or Mary McDonnell's in Battlestar Galactica.

Ah, makes total sense that you'd get more options with the injection if you didn't immediately use it. I didn't consider killing Miranda in that moment (as much as I wanted to as well) because 1) she had overpowered Carter and I was not convinced he would be able to defeat her there and 2) we needed someone with Tkonian DNA to operate this protection sphere and fast, so it just made sense for me to let Carter be that person. Maybe I wouldn't have made that choice so easily if I knew where it was going to lead, because at that point I was still under the assumption the effects could eventually be reversed or slowed enough that Carter would not actually turn.

Glad to hear that they're bringing it out physically! That does seem promising and I would love to see a sequel with a bit more polish. Definitely let me know if you encounter anything out of the ordinary. Feel free to tag me whenever you might get to it!
