EA Sports is bringing back Superstar mode for Madden NFL 24 this year, the popular single player mode that’s been absent for about a decade now. In truth, this is clearly standing on the shoulders of last year’s Face of the Franchise, but it does look significantly fleshed out – and is clearly taking some degree of inspiration from NBA 2K’s popular MyPlayer modes.

So, you’ll have to play through the NFL Combine, completing minigames to set scores and achieve statistical boosts. You’ll then take part in the interview, with your answers impacting your overall draft stock. Once all that’s out of the way, you’ll need to perform on the field, and a new in-game rating will show you in real-time how you’re faring.

In between matches, a new dynamic menu system will show you feedback from NFL analysts like Mina Kimes, and a podcast will underline key moments in your career. Once you’ve built up your avatar, you’ll be able to take them online in a reskinned Showdown mode, which will have seasonal content and a fresh neon aesthetic. And if you need to boost your attributes, minigames are back as well.

So, all in all this is looking like a much better single player proposition than we’ve had recently. But has EA Sports done enough to bring you back on board? Let us know in the comments section below.
