Alan Wake 2 PS5 PlayStation

The eagerly anticipated Alan Wake 2 isn't far off now, with the spooky PS5 thriller arriving in time for Halloween on 17th October. Fans of scary things will be pleased to know developer Remedy has made creeping out players a greater focus in Alan Wake 2, with the studio looking to the recent Resident Evil series for inspiration.

In an interview in the latest issue of EDGE magazine (thanks, PSU), Alan Wake 2 game director Kyle Rowley discussed how Capcom's legendary survival horror series inspired the team at Remedy:

"Camera perspective and things like that, yes, there are good references from the recent Resident Evil games that we did look at. But not just because, oh, you know, it worked for them, it's more like, how does that help us build the kind of experience we want? More claustrophobic, making the player feel more vulnerable, making the enemies feel more physical and dangerous."

We got a hands-off look at Alan Wake 2 at Summer Games Fest, and it blew us away, with its enhanced investigative elements taking centre stage. In other Alan Wake 2 news, if you haven't seen gameplay yet, you really should, and Remedy recently explained that ditching physical editions of the game will allow for weeks of extra polish ahead of launch.
