Hype merchant Geoff Keighley is currently building up towards his next major gaming showcase. Later this month, on 22nd August, he'll be hosting Gamescom Opening Night Live, which will feature updates and announcements on various upcoming titles. The teases have begun in earnest now, with Keighley enticing horror fans with the promise of Alan Wake 2.
Yes, Remedy's upcoming sequel will be present during the show, and the host is teasing a "brand new reveal", whatever that means:
It's not unreasonable to expect a bit of gameplay, seeing as the game is fast approaching its October launch. We've seen a little of the game in action, but we reckon we'll be seeing a good chunk more during Gamescom's showcase.
This probably won't be the last game Keighley teases before the big night, so keep a lookout on social media for more hints. Are you excited to see Alan Wake 2 at Opening Night Live? Keep the lights on in the comments section below.

True story, my friend was at university, got a scholarship at Remedy, got offered a full time job there and is now working on the engine for this game and others.
Oh cool, I can't wait for them to reveal this game!
@Wiggo Cool, my uncle works for Nintendo
Can they reveal a physical Version
Looking forward to dropping every game I’m trying to get through to play this one in October! Can’t wait! Love Remedy!
@KaijuKaiser. N.i.c.e. my space alien ex girlfriend works at atari.word up son
I believe I saw the Remedy community director mention a demo too? Not sure if that's something available for download or maybe just playable at Gamescom or even for the press only, though.
My step-grandfather showed me the schematics for the Playstation 6 right before I killed him.
@Cashews @playstation1995 😂😂
Can't wait for October to get here for this one.
Gamescom is shaping up to be a pretty big show. It's just absurd that Sony isn't having a presence there. It has allowed the Xbox booth to be the place to be to see all the anticipated third-party games on top of their upcoming first party titles.
This state of play format just straight up isnt working and has only aided in dissolving consumer relations and brand reputation. So much is riding on Spiderman for the near future, it's a shame. Their stock tanked because of it.
Hopefully this leads to an eventual shake up in leadership and respect for their audience.
I'm looking forward to this on nightmare difficulty. That's where Alan Wake remastered truly came alive for me.
Is this where they'll announce there's a physical edition coming after all?
@KundaliniRising333 How is it shaping up to be a huge show exactly?
I just want atmospheric and otherworldly mystery. Less focus on monster killing and more focus on mind bending story and uncomfortable fear.
@KundaliniRising333 or maybe we’re hearing about Spider-Man 2 because it releases in 2 months and not others because they’re further out. I don’t understand this desire to see cinematic trailers of games half a decade away or more. Just let them release the game first and I’m confident more will be on the way
loved alan wake shame about no physical release i wont be buying
@MagisterMagi
I came here to say the same thing..lol
@KundaliniRising333 The stock tanked because of the imaging sensor and film business. Because they said they don't see smartphone demand improving until mid 2024 and because of the WGA and SAG strikes they delayed a lot of their big movies.
They improved their outlook on the Playstation division.
@Powerplay94 really? I could have sworn the report stated they downgraded their outlook on Playstation due to first party delays they hadn't announced publicly. Yet still expected to sell within a certain forcast because bundles were picking up in sales. I could be wrong though, they were all articles from playstation lifestyle.
